Who Are the Biggest Cowards in Comedy?

August 31, 2012

Enough armchair politics.

You’ll never guess.

Thanks, apparently, to the fact that corporations are people, being deceased hasn’t stopped former Tea Party activist and left wing commentator Andrew Breitbart’s brand from continuing to forge into the 21st century after his sudden death at the age of 43 in March. Given that (according to Wikipedia), “Gingrich called him ‘the most innovative pioneer in conservative activist social media in America….’,” we can only assume this was an act of the same wrathful deity who sent Hurricane Issac the Republicans’ way earlier this week.

Columnist, John Nolte, in the employ of the no-longer-existent Brietbart’s page, who churns out an apparent three to four pieces per day for the site, is the latest in a stream of media professionals to dictate to comedians what their job is.

I had to check to see if I was on Christwire after I saw a piece by Nolte, published in the wake of Clint Eastwood’s jibbering, geriatric assault on the chair at the RNC Convention. According to Nolte, no comedians have broken “free of the politically correct demands of The State and mock[ed] Obama the way all presidents and all people in power should be mocked.”

Another choice quote?

Since Obama won the presidency, comedy has pretty much gone straight to hell as our Entertainment Overlords morphed into pathetic lapdogs to The State; begging for scraps of attention and affection from Obama, and in the process becoming stale, lazy, dull, predictable, painfully unfunny, and like a needy poodle — more than a little annoying.

Clearly, this man isn’t talking about himself. But who’s come to save the day? You guessed it! Good ol’ Dirty Harry.

I know, this idiocy has gotten too much play already, and rather than raise my ire, it has mostly made me feel a little sorry for Eastwood, who clearly is no longer in control of his faculties. But this article was just too rich to ignore.

One more quote and I’ll put the matter to rest:

What Eastwood did tonight was funnier, fresher, edgier,  and braver than anything those comedy cowards Chris Rock, Jon Stewart or Stephen Colbert have done in 15 years.

Cowards of Comedy Tour, anyone? That’s one lineup I’d love to see.

And maybe this Nolte kid’s onto something. This is one of the funniest things I’ve read in a long time.

Read the full article here, if you haven’t had enough of one irrelevant person talking about another irrelevant person talking about another irrelevant person talking about a relevant person.

UPDATE: Early video of John Stewart: http://www.mediaite.com/tv/jon-stewart-basks-in-the-glory-of-clint-eastwoods-awesome-speech-while-tearing-apart-romneys/ Those guys know how to do it.
